OUR STORY

With peace we all can win together.

Youth for Peace International (YfPI) is a youth‑led peacebuilding organisation that envisions a peaceful world of empowered individuals and sustainable societies. We work with young people, educators and decision makers to transform conflicts, heal communities and nurture a culture of peace.

Our mission is to develop the capacities of young people through peace education and civic engagement so they can lead change within their communities and beyond.

Making Peace Education Accessible

The Beginning 2015 YfPI was founded on 10th December 2015 in New Delhi, India by young peacebuilders who wanted to respond to rising polarisation and give youth a meaningful role in building and sustaining peace. Their vision was also supported by the adoption of the Youth, Peace and Security agenda (UNSCR 2250). Grounding in communities 2016 We began working with youth, children and teachers through peace education workshops, mindfulness spaces and dialogue circles in schools and communities.
Standing with refugees 2017 We expanded our work to provide rehabilitation support to refugees in New Delhi by focusing on trauma healing, peace education and facilitating inter‑community dialogue. From practice to policy 2018 YfPI became an active advocate for the Youth, Peace and Security agenda in India, contributing to national conversations, creative online campaigns and youth‑led policy recommendations. Redesigning spaces 2019 We redesigned the school with the community in the refugee camp where kids from different communities were coming and started using the space for dialogue. Launch of ICYPS 2020 We launched the national coalition on Youth, Peace and Security by bringing different stakeholders together to ensure young people are part of decision making spaces. Adapting as the need arises 2021 YfPI initiated a national mental health support helpline to provide a safer space for addressing stress, isolation, and emotional challenges during pandemic. From divides to friendship 2023 Facilitated community based dialogue for young people from different faiths to learn about each other through lived experiences. Youth Agenda 2024 for Politicians 2024 A report was co-designed and presented after extensive consultations to highlight the needs, challenges and recommendations by youth during the elections.
Mindfulness Being Tank Program 2022 Designed a handbook on Mindfulness practice sensitive to trauma and reconciliation with a group of psychologists and grassroot activists from South Asia.
Making Peace Education Accessible 2025 Launched a youtube channel with bite sized peace education content designed by and for youth to make content on transforming conflict accessible for communities.
WORK AREAS

What we do

01

Capacity Building

We design and facilitate structured learning programmes on peace education, conflict transformation and mindfulness for youth, children and educators.

These programmes draw on real community experiences and practical tools, helping participants to connect global ideas on peace with their everyday realities.

02

Ground action

We stand with communities affected by violence, displacement and everyday stress, prioritising mental health and psychosocial wellbeing. YfPI supports Rohingya refugees in India through trauma-sensitive care, education and dialogue, while our youth-led national mental health helpline offers free, confidential emotional support. Through mindfulness and peer initiatives, we help young people and communities manage anxiety and resolve conflict peacefully.

03

Advocacy & Campaigns

We amplify youth voices through creative online campaigns, storytelling and youth‑led dialogues on peace and human rights. YfPI also contributes to policy discussions on implementing the Youth, Peace and Security agenda in India and the wider region, connecting grassroots experiences with national and international platforms.
